Looking for that early 80s post punk sound? Add your favorite chorus pedal. Looking for that spaghetti western twang? Add your favorite tremolo pedal. As for the bass itself, it arrived quickly and well packaged from the U.K. Intonation was spot on right out of the box. Sounds great all the way up the neck. No additional set up needed. Added the black pick guard. It just looks better. The stock strings work just fine. No issues with the low E string, which can be a problem with a bass vi. All in all, it looks and plays like a dream. Well done, Eastwood. Well done indeed.
The Hooky Bass 6 is everything I've been looking for in this type of instrument. I've tried some of the others but they always fell short for me in one way or another. The string spacing is the biggest point for me, being primarily a bass player. The bridge allows for meaningful adjustment of intonation. The full 24 frets is just too good not to mention, even if you don't plan on using all of it.
Beautifully made bass with a unique sound. Fairly lightweight build and the wide neck allows me to play chords cleanly and easier compared to a Fender VI. Really appreciated President Mike Robinson’s customer service throughout the process. Very satisfied.
I purchased the Hooky 6 on a whim and I have to say I've not regretted it one bit. Hardly any set up right out of the box. The craftsmanship is wonderful. It's a quality instrument. I play 3 gigs with it the week I got it! The ONLY draw back as been have to explain to everyone what the Hooky 6 is!
My bass arrived recently, and I'm very pleased indeed. Came out of the box well set up (almost perfectly in tune!) and ready to go. Instrument is very well made and sounds / plays great. At my last band rehearsal all my mates were impressed after having a go. The customer service at Eastwood is tip top; they always responded to my questions throughout the process and I really can't fault them at all. You can buy with confidence from Eastwood.
Well what can I say, this bass is a thing of beauty. It plays superbly and the build quality is perfect. The only gripe I had was waiting 11 months for delivery due to Covid. This was initially very annoying, but it soon faded once I had picked it up and started playing. Order one, you won’t be disappointed!
I really love this instrument. Right out of the box it played and sounded great. In just a short time it has worked its way into my list of favorite guitars, and is the one I've been grabbing all the time for casual noodling around the house. As a bass, it has a nice tight sound with smooth playability. As a lead instrument, I have really enjoyed making all the great Peter Hook sounds. As a strumming axe, I've enjoyed playing chords and arpeggios on it. I've even used it highly distorted to replicate an overdriven guitar. Fun fun fun!
Fantastic guitar, plays well with 'tones' I've never experienced before. The neck is much easier to play than I thought it would be. Nice weight too. It's more like a new instrument than a hybrid bass/guitar. Can't wait to play it in a live show.
A dream come true for Peter Hook fans. The likelihood of finding an original Shergold Marathon 6, of which less than 100 were ever made, is slim to none for most people, and when you do find one, they aren't cheap. This is the next best thing. No other Bass VI style instrument on the market has the same string spacing or neck width.
The Hooky Pro 6 is, without doubt, THE bass for post-punk/darkwave, and the build quality of this instrument is both extremely robust and gorgeous to behold. I am a full-time luthier by trade, and I’ve purchased many a guitar in my time, and the Hooky arrived needing the least amount of setup and fine tuning than ANY other guitar I’ve had come in. The attention to details given to the shop for construction is top notch - the neck/board finish, the fretwork, intonation, wiring cleanliness and good solder joints, all the way down to the torque of the neck bolts, just tip-top! VERY IMPRESSIVE, EASTWOOD!!! I just can’t help but want to pick this one up - even if I’m not playing it it just feels so good to hold - you can just feel how quality this bass is in your hands. It’s a rare thing of beauty that can be handed down to the kids, but it’s also robust enough that I’d tour with it in a heartbeat. You made Dreams Never End, Eastwood! Worth. Every. Penny.
Thank you Peter Hook and Eastwood for filling the tone gap! Right out of the box I was playing some of my favorite Joy Division and New Order songs and they sounded spot on. Quality craftsmanship and quality sound. The Hooky is now my fave bass to create new material!
Thank you Eastwood! This is the bass I dreamed of since I was 10 years old. I touched it and I felt the magic. I turned on the ampeg, stomped my clone theory, put her in my hands and play dreams never end. If you know you know. Again Thank you Hooky, and thank you Eastwood. As a pro musician I will purchase Eastwood custom work Again and again. Anything I would need. I would recommend them to everyone looking to a company that is flexible and stands by their product.
